• 2 T vegetable oil
  • 1 cup yellow onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
  • sea salt and cracked black pepper
  • 1 package Abbot's Butcher Ground "Beef"
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 T BBQ sauce
  • 1 tsp. dark chili powder
  • 1 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1 T red wine vinegar


  • Warm the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic. Cook for several minutes, until onion is slightly tender.
  • Add the Ground “Beef” to the onions. Lightly season with salt and pepper and sauté for about 5 minutes.
  • Mix in the tomato sauce, barbecue sauce, chili powder, cumin and vinegar. Stir well. Reduce heat and simmer for 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Serve the sloppy joe mixture on a toasted or soft bun, and top with lettuce or slaw for a zesty crunch!
