- 2 T vegetable oil
- 1 cup yellow onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
- sea salt and cracked black pepper
- 1 package Abbot's Butcher Ground "Beef"
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 2 T BBQ sauce
- 1 tsp. dark chili powder
- 1 tsp. ground cumin
- 1 T red wine vinegar
Warm the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic. Cook for several minutes, until onion is slightly tender.
Add the Ground “Beef” to the onions. Lightly season with salt and pepper and sauté for about 5 minutes.
Mix in the tomato sauce, barbecue sauce, chili powder, cumin and vinegar. Stir well. Reduce heat and simmer for 3 to 5 minutes.
Serve the sloppy joe mixture on a toasted or soft bun, and top with lettuce or slaw for a zesty crunch!
