7 Outstanding Plant-Based Recipes for Father's Day

BY: Tanya Flink

Dad may be all about the grill, but on Father’s Day, we like to think the sides are the star of the show—especially when they’re crafted with our premium Abbot’s Butcher plant-based meats. Further, not all dads are grilling guys. For them, we have plenty of craveable mains that provide a tender, meaty bite and the bold flavors he loves. There’s no better way to convince Dad to eat more plants than by treating him to a meal he’ll thoroughly enjoy. Here are our favorite dad-friendly plant-based Father’s Day recipes plus three ways to plus-up your own recipes with our hearty plant-based meats.

7 Plant-Based Father’s Day Recipes

1. “Chorizo” Breakfast Biscuit Sandwich

Treat Dad to something satisfying and savory on Father’s Day morning. This recipe combines a fluffy (storebought) biscuit with melty nondairy cheddar, plant-based scramble, and our smoky “Chorizo.” This homemade handhold is far better than any breakfast sandwich he might find at his favorite diner or drive-thru.

2. “Chorizo” and Potato Scramble

Dads who identify as “meat and potato” guys will be perfectly satisfied with this cast iron skillet full of Spanish smoked “Chorizo,” spuds, and fluffy tofu egg. It’s a protein-packed savory breakfast that could double as dinner. Think of this meal as the gateway recipe for Dads who haven’t quite warmed up to plant-based eating.

3. BBQ Chick’n Sandwich

You don’t even have to fire up the grill to enjoy this hearty handhold. All our plant-based Chick’n needs is a good sear in the pan for a tender, juicy, and meaty bite. Pair with a quick homemade or storebought barbecue sauce and some crunchy, cool slaw for a Dad-approved sandwich on his special day.

5. Chick’n Maui Pineapple Bowl

If your dad owns more Hawaiian shirts than you can count, he’ll appreciate this tropical and festive main served in a hulled-out pineapple. The fruit is filled with our succulent Chopped Chick’n mixed with teriyaki sauce, rice, charred pineapple, and creamy avocado. It only looks fancy—this dish will take less than 30 minutes to make.

6. Buffalo Chick’n Pizza

Combine Dad’s favorite appetizer with his favorite main and you’ve got a winning pizza recipe. This pie forgoes the classic marinara for fiery buffalo sauce, our juicy Chopped Chick’n, and bright red onions and green peppers. It’s spicy, cheesy, meaty, and pairs perfectly with nondairy ranch. Drizzle this dressing liberally.

7. Mushroom Tagliatelle with “Chorizo” and Peas

Pasta aficionado dads will more than appreciate this sophisticated meal. Crafted with our plant-based “Chorizo,” fresh spring peas, meaty mushrooms, and a light-yet-decadent dairy-free cream sauce, this tagliatelle main offers more flavors and textures than most one-note pasta dishes. It’s hearty and satisfying without feeling too heavy. Pair with a simple salad and a glass of wine to celebrate Dad’s day.

3 Ways to Use Abbot’s Butcher Plant-Based Meats

1. “Chorizo” and Potato Salad

Give run-of-the-mill potato salad a protein and flavor boost by folding in a package of our plant-based “Chorizo.” With 15 grams of plant-based protein and spiced with Spanish smoked paprika, this simple addition will add texture and bold flavor to an otherwise “fine” side dish.

2. Chick’n Ceasar Salad

This classic salad could turn into Father’s Day lunch with a generous scoop of our Chopped Chick’n. We highly recommend serving this salad immediately after browning the Chick’n and serving it hot. The warm, seared Chick’n pleasantly contrasts the cool, crisp lettuce and the umami-packed creamy dressing.

3. Substantial Dips

Add protein, substance, and a meaty bite to any of Dad’s favorite dips by topping them with our premium plant-based meats. Bulk up hummus with a layer of Ground “Beef,” round out queso by topping it our smoky plant-based “Chorizo,” and turn French onion dip into a satisfying side with a scoop of savory Chopped Chick’n. Serve with chips, fluffy pita bread, or sliced artisan bread for a crowd-pleasing snack or pre-dinner app.
