Avocado Toast 3 Ways
Avocado toast is one of the simple pleasures in life. Toasted bread, creamy avocado and your favorite herbs and spices. It’s nutritious, delicious, and best of all - easy to whip up anytime of the week. It also happens to be one of our favorite dishes to riff on. Because sometimes, you want a little something more. Especially if you’re looking to make avocado toast stand alone as a filling, nourishing meal - whether that’s for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Here are the essentials:
Toast - There is no need to limit yourself to one kind of bread. Whether it’s multigrain, sourdough, rye, focaccia, pita or gluten-free, it’s the first step to crafting your delectable creation.
Protein - We are biased here, but the “Chorizo”, Chick’n and “Beef” are exactly what the toast needs to fill you up and make this an energizing meal - good for your body and soul. Crisp them up in a pan for a few minutes and voila!
Toppings - Typically the sliced or mashed avocado goes directly over the toast before adding proteins and additional toppings, but this is your canvas, so create away. Some of our other favorite toppings include cremini mushrooms, a thin layer of hummus, charred and/or pickled veggies (especially tomatoes, radishes and onions) and of course, microgreens — not only for an extra crunch, but also for a beautiful appearance.
Herbs & Spices - This is the finishing touch that maximizes the flavor. Everyone has their favorite spice, but ours (especially for avocado toast) is lemon pepper. The “Beef” pairs nicely with some fresh basil, while the “Chorizo” pair nicely with some fresh cilantro. No matter the herb or the spice, this extra kick completes the dish.
