The Next Chapter: A Note From Our Founder

By: Kerry Song

Seven years ago, when I started Abbot’s Butcher, I envisioned a brand that reflected my time on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice, California.

The street was named after the prominent conservationist, visionary, and entrepreneur Abbot Kinney, and it felt right to pay him homage as I worked to share a vision of my own: that food can be both healing and delicious. As for the “Butcher” part of the name, it reflected the artisanal craftsmanship you experience with every bite of our plant-rich products.

As we’ve grown and expanded, our customers continue to recognize us as the cleanest, whole food option in the plant-based meat space—a category that has been stigmatized by artificial, unclean, and flavorless alternatives. Meanwhile, our commitment to the power of real, delicious plant-rich foods to transform health has only strengthened.

So, with that, we’re dropping “Butcher'' and stepping into the next generation of Abbot’s.

As we enter this next chapter, I’ve been reflecting a lot on my own health journey and the transformative power of food—and how I see Abbot’s helping more and more people nourish, heal, and thrive. I feel compelled to share our belief in “food as medicine” loudly and proudly, and am excited to announce that you’ll see more of an emphasis on educational and holistic wellness content from us that embodies this.

While our name is changing (and our packaging is getting a glow up), know that we will continue to craft the same delicious, high-quality plant-rich products you know and love. And did I mention we have some exciting new innovations up our sleeve?

Thank you for being on this journey with us. We’re so excited to continue to grow and transform together.

In good health,

Kerry Song
